• Power Safety: Turn off the E-4205/E-4205A desktop printer and unplug the power supply. For the RL4e, eject the lithium-ion battery pack before opening the printer housing.
• ESD Protection: Wear an anti-static wrist strap. Thermal line elements on the PHD20-2267-01 are sensitive to electrostatic discharge.
• Mechanism Release: Unlatch the printhead assembly using the green release levers. Carefully disconnect the dual ribbon cable from the rear of the old printhead without pulling directly on the wiring.
• Alignment & Lock: Seat the new PHD20-2267-01 into the mounting pins, reattach the ribbon connectors securely, and lock the latch back into position.
• Initial Surface Clean: Clean the print line with a 99.9% isopropyl alcohol swab before closing the cover and powering on the machine.

Extend the operational life of your new PHD20-2267-01 printhead: Clean Regularly:

• Wipe the thermal line after every ribbon roll change or after every 3 rolls of direct thermal labels.
• Manage Darksettings: Maintain printer dark/heat settings at the lowest readable density level (recommended range: 10–14 in Datamax settings).
• Control Pressure: For RL4e mobile units, ensure the latch mechanism is clear of dust and debris to prevent uneven mechanical pressure across the printhead surface.
