How to distinguish thermal transfer ribbons
How do you tell which side of the ribbon is facing up or down based on your viewing angle? When you load the ribbon into the printer, you will see a shiny side on one side and a matte side on the other. The darker side of the ribbon is where the thermal transfer ink is located. Another trick is to stick the label on one side of the ribbon. If the ink comes off, you know it's the ink side. The ink side of the ribbon must always face the label.
Thermal printing uses thermal technology to print and is one of the most popular label printing methods on the market today. I often say that printing labels with a thermal transfer printer is like hitting a nail with a hammer. It's just the perfect tool for printing labels.
In fact, that's the whole purpose of thermal transfer printers, to print labels.
